Bethel-Tate Middle School has once again made headlines for its exemplary commitment to music education, earning a shout-out from the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

This time the spotlight focused on a video, featuring BTMS Principal Dr. Christen Davis, created by the relatively new OMEA Advocacy Committee, representing districts across Ohio. The NAfME article celebrated the committee’s creation of their Music Advocacy video calling it a “notable achievement .” You can find the article here: https://nafme.org/blog/together-in-advocacy/

The video features a Q&A with Dr. Davis, who offers insights and valuable guidance for administrators on collaborating effectively with music educators, further supporting music education advocacy efforts. This video and other OMEA advocacy resources can be found on the OMEA advocacy webpage.

“This is a HUGE shoutout to our program and district from the nation’s most reputable music education association,” proclaimed BTMS Music Teacher Paul Glader.

Superintendent Melissa Kircher called the honor "remarkable" but not surprising.

"The ongoing recognition of our music programs reflects the exceptional work Mr. Glader does every day and the outstanding support from Dr. Davis," she said. "Together, they have created an atmosphere where music is truly appreciated and valued."

NAfME is the original Music Education Association in the United States and is the parent association of all 50 state MEAs. This article showcases the newly formed advocacy committee that Mr. Glader serves on for the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA).

The mention by NAfME is a “big deal,” Mr. Glader emphasized. “This is an incredible recognition of our school.”

It’s not a surprise that NAfME picked up on BTMS’s successful music education programs. Over the last few years, the school, teachers and administrators have earned numerous awards including:

  • 2022 Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Teacher of the Year - Paul Glader
